Roger’s Experience
“It was a high pressure situation!”
“We had just 10 minutes until sunset once the 3rd glider made it to the summit of Mt Cook/Aoraki to join the other two. Roger absolutely nailed the sequence we needed - it was an unbelievable scene. He absolutely crushed it, especially considering I got distracted shooting stills mid-session and left him to it…sorry about that Roger!”

I am currently working with the CineShot Camera System, having previously operated the Academy Award-winning Shotover K1 and the P1 6-axis gyro stabilised gimbal camera support systems as part of the team at Aerial Cameras in Queenstown. My credits span high-profile feature films, television series, and commercials, where I have worked as an aerial cinematographer, operator and technician.
I am fortunate to regularly collaborate with legendary helicopter pilot Alfie Speight (pictured above with Brett Mills and myself), widely regarded as one of the best in the industry for aerial filming, along with his team at Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters.
With over 30 years of experience in the camera department—working across high-end film, 3D and digital formats—I bring a comprehensive understanding of the aerial filmmaking process, from helicopter rigging and camera configuration to in-flight operation. Having logged hundreds of flight hours, I also hold a certificate in Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET).
